New Calculator App Helps Students Solve Arithmetic Problems

Don't get confused this is a breakthrough for all stubborn mathematical problems.
This new smartphone app is on its way to becoming every students' best friend!
PhotoMath which uses text recognition technology to solve simple math equations has been dubbed at the world's first camera calculator, and was launched last week.

It can solve fractions and decimals, powers and roots, arithmetic expression and simple linear equations.
However, PhotoMath doesn't only solve equations, but also provides step-by-step instructions to explain how it arrived at its answer.
MicroBlink, the Croatian company that created PhotoMath, has said that it sees many positive uses for the app.
Despite the obvious usefulness of PhotoMath, there are concerns that students could take advantage of the app during school tests.
Speaking to Mashable, MicroBlink CEO, Damir Sabol said the company has seen the technology being used in "many places where the mobile apps need to be connected to the real world through text recognition."
While Sabol maintains that the company is not particularly focused on education, he is very happy with the app's success thus far, especially after it was placed in the finals of TechCrunch Disrupt Europe on Tuesday.
"We've had a million visits to our website and more than 110,000 downloads yesterday, and the traffic seems to be growing. As far as financing goes, we haven't taken any outside investments yet, but we're looking at that possibility as well," Sabol added.
MicroBlink has previously launched PhotoPay, an app that lets users pay bills simply by scanning them through a phone's camera.
PhotoMath is available for iOS and Windows Phone devices, and will be coming to Android devices in early 2015.
